Slowkou impacting our community

You will remember that my brother and I ran the non-profit event during Christmas in the URstory Slowkou Secret Garden for those without families. Wow, 30 people came. It expanded to the SLOWKOU community group and as I write here, we are 52 women and growing. I was deeply challenged by the Holy Spirit two years ago to reach out to non-church-going people in town.

Jesus' last command to us was "Go and make disciples of all Nations.." Acts 8:1

My Jerusalem where I live is Stilbaai. My Judea is Melkhoutfontein as you see in my newsletters. My Samaria is in South Africa and Sandboxbible will be training churches in Hermanus among others soon. My ends of the earth... where the Gospel has never been preached: 10-40 window, most recently the stop-motion I made in the Makuwa language.

STILBAAI - how do we disciple a town?

Stilbaai is one of the fastest growing towns in South Africa and many are pouring into this place. The URstory Slowkou office next to Bali will be able to connect new incoming people to places of worship of their choice, sports clubs, and U3A clubs that currently exist in town. "Welcome to Stilbaai" is a gap we want to fill.

Since our last Christmas event, I have run non-profit events every month, and it led me to start the "SLOWKOU-CUP" award, acknowledging influencers in Stilbaai who will not be awarded or recognized publically for their massive social & community impact in our midst. short 50sec video Our last event took place in a bakery and people said:

"Oh, now I am beginning to understand what you are doing in the community. This is going to have a huge impact on the people!"

WHY FUNDRAISING FOR A TENT?

12 April is our next event. It will take place in the Slowkou Secret Garden smack bang in the middle of Stilbaai. A psychologist is coming to help us understand what people with depression go through. This is where I believe, true Believers could and should be making an impact. But what if it rains? Where can we go? We want to start nights of extended worship with all the different churches coming together... Extended worship does not happen in Stilbaai. This is not a new church. The focus will not be on churchgoers. If you are from Stilbaai, stay with your church family :-)

Where does UNREACHED NATIONS fit into this?

For over a year now, I have seen and keep on seeing in my mind, people gathering to worship and pray in this Slowkou Secret Garden. I started the Intercession group on Fridays and this led to the outreach we are planning for December. The yearly Touch Rugby event 26th December is HUGE and 18 - 25 year old university students from all over the nation gather here to play and drink and party. We will introduce them from 27 - 30 December to missions. From Radio Pulpit to churches all over South Africa, this call to come will go out.

WE NEED TO BUY THIS TENT & Speakers

We did a lot of research making phone calls all over South Africa. Prices vary but we want an industrial tent that will stand for years in the sun and rain. The measure is 10x15 meters. It seems that the price is between R50 000 to R59,500. The quality makes the difference. This means we need $3,250 to get us under shade and out of the rain for the long term.

I cannot believe how expensive the speakers are. At this point, we will not be going for quality but functionality. The photo shows it all. $317 (R5,749) unless someone blesses us with really good speakers.

In the very end, we want to see teams trained here to reach the nations.

We want to engage with non-church goers through fun and serious events, being SALT in this town with its many problems alongside the amazing Goukou River...

Slowkou is already impacting the town.
