Dear friends and sponsors,

At the end I embedded a video of our last SLOWKOU "wine and clay tasting" day. Enjoy this newsletter and you will notice - prayer will be much needed for all that is happening and the new responsibility that came my way in YWAM.

Blessings

THE BIKE! Got it!

ree

By now, you have heard the rather crazy story that I am going on a 3-month Motorcycle outreach all the way up Africa through 14 nations. The preparations are quite intense.

THESE ARE THE NATIONS with which we have established contact for training:

Starting near the southernmost tip of Africa, three of us will drive east from Stilbaai to Lesotho to join our fourth driving partner. Then we head for Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia.

Meeting wonderful people
Meeting wonderful people

If you have been following me on my URstory YouTube channel, watching Season 1, preparing for our Africa14 Nations trip, you would have noticed that we only had our very first practice on a friend's motorcycle. (Subscribe here to follow this journey on YOUTUBE!)

No driver school wanted to teach us how to ride a bike! I said to Rianni, "What is the next step WE can take?" We can schedule a date with the traffic department and then continue practicing for our practical exam. We drove 100km to Mossel Bay!

And what happened?

We miraculously met Giel via a stranger in the traffic department while filling in forms. Giel teaches brand new bikers how to ride a still standing 250cc before driving and shifting gears on the road. This was SO helpful. You can just imagine how it calmed the nerves. He quickly became our first Christian Motorcycle Club friend. We have been practicing since, and not only have we got a date on 31 October, but also 15 November, to join COUNTRY TRAX on a special entry-level course for off-road biking! You have to do this course to be part of the CMA in South Africa. We have to do it because... we are going to drive through 13 Nations!

My nerves? I have no words but my bones are rattling just a tad!

Third miracle I could not conjure up!

I received an on-off road dual bike, a Suzuki 250cc, and could finally practice. Even Itchy Boots, the girl who drove solo around the world, ended up driving a 250cc - we were happy to see that we were thinking right without even having a lot of knowledge. An old biker in Gauteng heard about the bike we use, and he said (to the person who told us) "How did these girls know how to follow this route?"

All I can say is... HE is helping me, and it is becoming obvious (to those who thought I was joking about Africa!)

Bible Engagement
Bible Engagement

It becomes even MORE interesting than this!

Ywam has a new college in the University of the Nations called "College for Bible Engagement" and I was invited to be part of the core group thinking through how to shape this CofBE.

I realized that God asked me to be in two places next year - which set off this big trip in the first place - it was praying in Botswana and then He unexpectedly led me to Tanzania as I was pondering over a big world map. I realised that I would cross paths with the Elders of Africa, conducting meetings where I was driving through and now we can hopefully arrange to have our first CofBE meetings on the continent of Africa!

Reminder: The UofN is a truly global university, offering over 650 different courses in nearly 160 nations, in 97 languages. With a mandate to multiply workers for global service, the UofN was born out of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), an international movement of Jesus-followers from many backgrounds, cultures, and traditions. I am so glad I can be part of this university!

Ministry in Stilbaai - Feedback on "Hearing God's Voice" Workshop

ree

I have started a new Bible study series with my group, and not ONE of the ladies has ever read through the entire Bible! I stayed home last Sunday to spend a bit more extended quiet time with Jesus, and when Rianni came back from church, she said with a beaming face, "You have really good feedback from the ladies."

One day later, I had a phone call from someone else, who heard what I did and how people experienced last weekend when I did the hearing God's voice workshop for two days. Needless to say, I was super happy and felt very blessed.

Some videos you may want to watch on the SLOWKOU YOUTUBE CHANNEL

This YOUTUBE channel is all about the things I do with women in Stilbaai. Over 80% of my hometown does not go to church regularly. Do subscribe and keep an eye on what we do!

How do we reach our own people?

In Stilbaai, with things we enjoy. Building relationship and trust. This month the SLOWKOU CUP AWARD went to Ursula, my Badminton friend and leader in this community. She found out that her husband is a cousin of mine on the Breedt side!! Go figure! I have family in Stilbaai that I did not even know.

I kept secret what I was going to do with the ladies... and what an amazing day we had with famous a famous potter from George. I had to book him in February and could only meet in August. He brought the gospel is such a lovely way - and some of the ladies were not Christian. We ALL enjoyed it.

What is next on the SLOWKOU agenda?

SHOOTING! with real bullets...

11 October 2025 at the shooting range. See you 9am!

Lastly for those who would like to sponsor this Bike Trip

I have mentioned in previous news it is impossible to safe for any of this as my sponsorship currently is consistently below $600 per month.

What I have and rejoice about

  • gear (boots, top and pants)

  • Helmet

  • Bike

  • Soft side panels

  • Shower bag

  • Emergency sleeping bag (Rain proof)

Here is a short list of things I still need.

  • Spare tires for Africa - R1,822 per tire (R3,644)

  • Tire pump R219 on TEMU

  • Petrol for 15 000km will roughly work out R15 000

  • Petrol can for extra fuel - R790 - Desert Fox 6L

  • Fix it kit - R300

  • I would like to give you amazing weekly updates where we travel.

For this I am trusting for a good quality GoPRO to mount on my helmit. R4,499

  • Drone - research lead me to a good secondhand DJI Mavic Pro for R6000

Total R30 452

  • MOSTLY I need finance for sleeping over if we are not near a YWAM base or place for tents.

  • And Food finance. It seems that a minimum of R500 daily for the trip should cover it. This is a low estimate but seeing that we can sleep nights at YWAM bases and camps we should be good.

    R500 x 90 = R45 000 (stay and food)

Total I am trusting God for:

SA R75,452

US $4,378

British £3,211

This excludes

  • sim cards in each nations

  • visa entry fees

  • one extra bike top for hot weather (R980 on TEMU)

This is next year's problem :-)

We asked Suzuki if they are willing to sponsor Rianni with a bike. Pray she receive her bike soon!
